Abstract Expressionism

Abstract Expressionism is a type of abstract painting, though different because where as you use small brush strokes to build large structural paintings where the artists emotion is expressively shown and a lot of focus and energy will be used in the painting to show there feel on the picture. It’s a more though- full piece of work with more contemplation, expressive qualities in the painting. The brush strokes found in the art are often similar to the expressionism found in Monet’s  art work. Abstract Expressionism art style was a very intense kind of painting and often used with a structured purpose to the use of rapid brush strokes and techniques used to create a lot of texture and feel to the painting.

Art Nouveau

Art Nouveau is found a lot in Paris in France is embraced and occupied the style of France and is internationally Known as New art, It’s a reaction to Academic art of the 19^th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures as well as curved lines. A great way to study Art Nouveau is studying flowers and plants and considered a philosophy of designing furniture or even buildings. It’s a very popular art and in Germany its known as “Youth Art” where artists would try and inhance them selves more with the outside world of tree formations and the Environment.

Futurism

Futurism was an artistic and social movement that originated in Italy where it was a Large Phenomenon in the 20n century, It emphised and glorified the themes associated with the contemporary concepts of the future, including speed technology youth and violence, which I don’t like but the objects they use can be inspiring like cars, airplanes and the Industrial city.  Its used every type of art such as painting, sculpture, film, e.t.c.

Umberto Boccioni was an Italian Painter and Sculpture, Obviously the Italians loved this type of art and I can see that shape and form of his sculpture  you can see the movement in his art and I really like that outline but its almost got no form but detailed and have a nice form to it.

Minimalism

Minimalism was founded in the 1950 and 1960’s where the designers of Modern Building took most of the creative movements and aesthetics values of art. Instead the art work was more simple and purely form at its simplest with clean lines and lots of space, for example no architectural designs and very functional a lot of the modern building today are minimalistic and in my view I really like that art style and movement because its easy but interesting and expressive because of the lack of detail and line to just one great looking simple line.

Photorealism

Photorealism was the artist movement found after the Minimalism movement of art where in the United States they would take photos of a certain landscape, view, objects study it through the camera and then looking at the tone, lines, texture and saturation in the colour and then doing a painting of it that seems photographic. The term is applied to the United States art movement.

This art movement is so interesting to look at, I really like the attention to tone and line, the detail is amazing and I can’t see that it’s a drawing from far until I look to the close up of it and see the texture and hardness of the lines that shows me its not a photo, I think this would be a great art style to use with some ink and wood stick where its creative but show an attention to detail as well as using nature as my material to draw with and make it creative with some splashes to which from a distant could look like a photo of a landscape view but up close could be seen in its true likeness.

I think the Aesthetics of this art style would please peoples eyes the most because of the detail and in depth study of the art work and lines of the paintings in colour that could almost beat a camera in contrast with colour and lines as well as tone and saturation.

Pointillism

Pointillism is a technique used to create a painting of an image using a range of  different coloured dots, This is very abstract in its way of having little impressionism in its painting as the colours are random and up to how the artists feels when at work. I like how sometimes the artist comes up with different coloured images that look pretty good.

Vincent Van Goth was a brilliant example of this pointillism and you can see it in  most of his works also his cross hatching is a brilliant way of using this technique and a great way of sketching this is a move on of some of the simple drawing techniques like stippling and cross hatching though you use 1 of the major techniques and try a range of colours. Though it takes a huge amount of interest in the art style to carry it on. And it also shows the artists knowledge in his colour wheel as shown above and what colours to use and where.

Surrealism
Surrealism began in the 1920’s, Its shows a in-depth study and thought into juxtapositions and unexpected art drawings and painting using sometimes the easy simple design found out in minimalism and abstractism. Though as a movement it expresses the ability to draw artifacts and robots almost futuristic and highly designed.
I like how this movement can be used a lot in the unit we are doing at the moment and shown are interest to draw on top of photos that we have taken of landscapes and design new robots, artifacts, beings and buildings. I like this art for its meaning and use of  art that can be compared and involved in this subject of art at the moment.
