ED Fella

ED Fella
ED Fella was born in 1938 in Detroit, Rome, he is an artist and graphic designer who’s work has an important role on the influence of contemporary art. ED worked as a commercial artist designing brochures and illustrations, he practiced at this style of commercial sale art for 30 years and worked with drawings and typography. He has since devoted his time to teaching at California institute of the arts and his own self-published work has appeared in many design publications. In 1997 he received the Chrysler Award, in 1999 an honorary Doctorate from CCS in Detroit and in 2007 he became an AIGA medalist.

His work contains a grid-less typography, his style has outstanding use of hand writing and grid layout with an interesting use of colours and the way he uses a range of text and type face all in different styles, he is a free lance artist using pencils, ballpoint pens, crayons, Knives and other materials such as black and white paper. He ahs always don’t it by hand never using a computer.
